RCYC WOMEN'S SAILING May. 29-Aug. 15 2017
The Women’s Sailing program, open to all RCYC women, is a great opportunity to meet different club members while improving your sailing skills! All levels of experience are welcome and encouraged to come out.
The Women’s Social Sailing program, for beginner to intermediate sailors, teaches basic components of sailing in an Ideal 18. With two to three people in a boat, sailors will gain experience in steering, sail trim and theory to become confident sailing independently. Social Sailing runs on Monday evenings from 6pm to 8:30pm - participants are expected to arrive early (when you can) to rig boats before 6:00. Women are encouraged to stick around for dinner/drinks while debriefing after sailing.
The Women’s Racing program is designed for the advanced sailors. Teams of two train in an Ideal 18 and work together to fly spinnaker, control boat speed and explore racing tactics. Racing is now moving to TUESDAY evenings, from 6pm to 8:30pm.
Both programs include brief lessons from instructors before heading out on the water, and an in-depth debrief in the clubhouse afterwards.
